News Literacy Project provides expertise on navigating misinformation at national education journalism seminar
The News Literacy Project’s director of community engagement Alee Quick will present tips for finding credible sources and avoiding falsehoods at a panel discussion May 30 during the 2025 Education Writers Association National Seminar.
The discussion, “Dealing With Misinformation and Disinformation,” is for journalists and community members and will feature expert advice on navigating viral falsehoods that can fuel public mistrust.
Quick, a former newsroom editor, partners with educators, families and community members who are teaching kids news literacy outside of traditional classrooms. She’s joined on the panel by Griffin Colaizzi, a research fellow at More in Common, and David Park, president of Learning Heroes. Blair Mann, senior vice president of communications at the Data Quality Campaign, will moderate.
The EWA is a nonprofit that supports more than 2,000 members with training and resources to produce high-quality education reporting. Their annual seminar attracts hundreds of journalists and communications professionals from across the country.
