The News Literacy Project’s President and CEO Charles Salter argues in an op-ed for USA TODAY that news literacy education can help us connect to America’s founding ideals as the country celebrates 250 years of independence.
“The founders knew that a free country without a robust press and informed public engagement could not endure,” Salter writes. “An education in news literacy helps put these fundamentally American ideals into action.”
