Misinformation

The RumorGuard website provides timely news literacy lessons based on trending examples of misinformation. Each article contains a succinct debunking of a social media post in the “Quick Looks” section, tips to spot and address similar rumors in “The Takeaway,” analysis based on five credibility factors and links to resources from the News Literacy Project to help students hone their fact-checking skills.

The RumorGuard homepage lays out a chronological listing of the most recent viral false claims, making it easy to find relevant topics for classroom discussion. The site is also organized via a tagging system, giving instructors the ability to find rumors around a specific news literacy topic (such as impostor content) or on a general subject area.
