We can’t do this work alone. That’s why we value partnerships that help us achieve our vision: that all students in the United States are skilled in news literacy before they graduate from high school.

Families and community groups: vital partners in supporting young people
News literacy education shouldn’t stop at the classroom door. Families and community organizations play a vital role in helping young people develop the skills to navigate today’s complex information landscape.
We’ve provided guidance for families. Whether you’re hosting a family workshop or simply starting a conversation, this will help you get started.
We also partner with libraries, after-school programs and community organizations to extend news literacy education beyond the classroom. We offer:
- Customized professional development and training for public librarians and staff or volunteers of other civic and community organizations working with youth.
- Free access to all educational resources on our Checkology virtual classroom.
- Support for community programming, including unlimited access to our Newsroom to Classroom.
- Directory of more than 100 volunteer.journalists ready to bring real-world experience to your news literacy programs.

Educators: key partners in achieving our mission
Since launching our first classroom program in 2009, individual educators have been essential partners in our work. Today, while educators remain central to our mission and vision, we are also expanding our reach through other programs with school districts and educational organizations and community groups committed to advancing news literacy.

Our free e-learning platform, Checkology, is now available on Clever — a digital learning platform used by 95 of the 100 largest school districts in the country. This integration makes it easier than ever for educators to bring news literacy into their classrooms with single sign-on.

Journalists & news organizations:
amplifying our mission
From the beginning, partnerships with news organizations have played a vital role in our work. Thanks to volunteer journalists, these collaborations help shed light on the standards and processes behind quality journalism. The partnerships also help bring news literacy to the broader public.
Local and national newsrooms regularly turn to us for trusted insights on news literacy and expert analysis on the spread of misinformation. We welcome opportunities to serve as subject matter experts for stories, on panels and at public events.
In 2020, we partnered with The E.W. Scripps Company to launch National News Literacy Week. Since then, Scripps has remained our exclusive broadcast partner, helping the campaign grow year after year. In 2024, USA Today/Gannett joined as our exclusive print partner, extending our reach to readers nationwide.
Along with Scripps and USA Today, other news outlets, membership organizations and nonprofits help amplify National News Literacy Week through pro bono advertising to increase awareness of our work. While we acknowledge the generosity of these organizations, our educational resources remain independent: we neither endorse nor disparage any outlet. Instead, we focus on teaching students how to evaluate the credibility of all sources. These partners have included:
