Alexa Volland creates short-form, student-focused content for social media and classroom use. Before joining NLP, she was editor of the MediaWise Teen Fact-Checking Network at the Poynter Institute, leading a national team of student journalists producing fact-checking videos for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. She previously worked at her hometown paper, the Tampa Bay Times, as the social media editor for tb-two*, a now-retired tabloid-style paper produced by students and published by the Times. She later joined the paper’s features department. She has also worked as a journalism teacher in St. Petersburg, Florida. Alexa has a journalism degree from the University of Florida.
