Alex Koval develops and maintains software systems that support NLP's mission to educate students about news literacy. He brings nearly a decade of expertise in software development, cloud infrastructure and technical leadership across many sectors, including education and nonprofit. Before joining NLP in 2024, Alex served as director of technology at National Novel Writing Month, where he led engineering and cloud infrastructure strategy for the global arts nonprofit. Prior to that, he was a front-end engineer at Datapeople, a mobile engineer at Highmark Health, and a full-stack engineer at Duquesne University. Alex graduated from Duquesne University with a bachelor's degree in literature and philosophy.
