Elliott supports the implementation of districtwide strategies to bring news literacy education to students across the country. In 2026, he was named to the Civics Framework Development Panel for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Before joining NLP, Elliott was lead teacher and department chair at a Los Angeles Unified School District high school, where he taught government, economics and geography and spearheaded the development of a new academic program and several courses. He is a National Board Certified Teacher. Elliott taught Latin in New York and California and ran the Middle School Public Debate Program, the National Shakespeare Competition and several programs promoting public speaking and international exchange at the English-Speaking Union in New York City. A graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University, and The University of Chicago, he earned his teaching credential at California State University, Northridge. Elliott also served on the educator community team at TPT and received a Fulbright grant in 2011.
