Nierra Coleman Jones leads strategies to engage educators nationwide, supporting their use of NLP resources and programs to advance news literacy education in the classroom. Her efforts include writing The Insider newsletter and planning NLP’s inaugural National News Literacy Conference. She joined NLP in 2023 after working in the education sector as an eighth-grade English language arts and reading intervention teacher in Nashville, Tennessee, where she also led professional development focused on social-emotional learning. Nierra also curated video media for higher education textbooks and currently volunteers with a college and career readiness organization. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education studies from Spelman College and a master’s in education with a specialization in curriculum and instruction from the University of San Diego.
