Something good has happened on the internet: The News Literacy Project has won a grant from Project for Awesome thanks to our community of online supporters.

What is Project for Awesome?

Project for Awesome is an effort by the Foundation to Decrease World Suck, led in part by brothers and internet creators John Green, a bestselling author, and Hank Green, a science communicator.

The organization has awarded more than 330 grants to nonprofits totaling more than $17 million.

What did the News Literacy Project win?

In February, we asked you to watch our Project for Awesome video and vote for NLP. And our community made it clear: News literacy education matters.

Thanks to views and votes online, we’ve been awarded a $44,000 grant through Project for Awesome. We were one of 34 organizations chosen.

What does it mean to win Project for Awesome?

The funding will support our work in classrooms across the country. These small acts make a big impact. All our donations help keep our resources free, so cost never becomes a barrier to teaching effective, high-quality news literacy lessons.

Thank you for helping to make the world a little more awesome.
