Sorting information
As the amount of available information — news, entertainment, opinion, propaganda, advertising, raw video and audio, and more — grows at an unprecedented rate, filtering it is an essential news literacy skill. NLP’s “InfoZones” lesson will help you understand that not all information is created equal.
Of course, most pieces of information have more than one purpose — a television show that is produced to be entertaining can also be informative, or an advertisement produced to sell a product or service can also entertain. But almost everything that you read, watch and hear has one primary purpose, and that primary purpose can affect whether you find the information credible (or not).
