Special issue: AI quiz

Dear friend of news literacy,

Welcome to this week’s special issue of The Sift! We’ve included a fun and informative quiz on the basics of generative AI technology for you and your students, along with tips on how to identify AI-generated images.

Please note that there won’t be a Sift issue next week due to our staff retreat, but we will be back in your inbox on March 18.

We hope you enjoy today’s newsletter!

Quiz your students on AI

Artificial intelligence has advanced rapidly in recent years and can quickly generate images, text, audio and videos. There are incredible uses for AI technology, like processing vast amounts of data or writing computer code. But these tools can also be used to create and spread misinformation at an unprecedented scale.

Take this short quiz to test your basic knowledge of generative AI. It may be helpful to review NLP’s AI infographic beforehand, although certainly not required. Have students complete the quiz individually or as a class to spark discussion.

Clicking on an answer or image below will lead you to the AI quiz link in a browser. After you submit the quiz, click “view score” to view the answers.

What does it mean when an AI chatbot has “hallucinations”?
