Thankathon 2025: Thanks a Million (and then some)!
The true measure of the generosity of our supporters isn’t counted in dollars, but in the number of students whose lives are impacted. And for that we’d like to say thanks a million (and then some)!
Since 2016, more than 1.5 million students have been taught news literacy with the News Literacy Project’s resources, gaining the skills to challenge misinformation and make informed decisions. That’s 1.5 million young people better prepared to think critically, engage constructively and make informed decisions. They step into adulthood more confident in their abilities to deal with society’s most pressing issues.
Every fact-check, every thoughtful debate, every student “aha” moment... they’re all made possible by NLP’s supporters.
Just look at the record-breaking results you helped us achieve in the 2024-25 school year:
- Over 570,000 students were taught news literacy with our free resources. This is nearly 90,000 students above our goal.
- Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we raised $8.9 million to continue to scale our reach, an NLP record.
- Checkology® was reimagined and relaunched as a new hub for educators.
- Checkology was also brought to the Clever platform, instantly connecting our resources to 110,000 schools nationwide — a key investment to support us in reaching our 2028 goals. The new Scroll Smarter parent newsletter launched to bring news literacy into family conversations. Check it out here!
We’re seeing the news literacy movement grow and strengthened through the commitments of educators, the curiosity of students and the dedication of donors.
Whether you use your vote, voice, time or money to help us advance news literacy education, we are truly grateful for all you do. And while a million thanks can’t even begin to cover it, we appreciate you for standing with us in building a fact-based future together.
For all the wins so far and all the wins yet to come, thanks a million!
